Associated General Contractors (ABC) Texas Building Branch recognized Vaughn Construction at the 2026 Outstanding Construction Awards for the University of Houston Sugar Land Academic Building 2, Texas A&M University Mitchell Tennis Center Renovation, UT Health Rio Grande Valley Cancer and Surgery Center, and Cook Children’s Las Vegas Trail Neighborhood Health Center.

The 75,000 SF University of Houston Sugar Land Academic Building 2 supports the Cullen College of Engineering Technology Division’s relocation to Sugar Land and creates new opportunities for students and faculty.

The Texas A&M University Mitchell Tennis Center Renovation included 12 resurfaced courts, 24 custom player lockers, renovated locker rooms, and training areas, creating a new home for the university’s men’s and women’s tennis programs.

The three-story, 141,000 SF UT Health Rio Grande Valley Cancer and Surgery Center brings oncology, imaging, infusion therapy, rehabilitation, surgery, and research together in McAllen. The center reduces the need for patients to travel outside the Rio Grande Valley for specialized care.

The 37,000 SF Cook Children’s Las Vegas Trail Neighborhood Health Center combines pediatric and adult care with workforce training and community education. The facility expands access to healthcare and social resources while supporting the Las Vegas Trail community’s long-term health.

The four awards recognize the employees, craftworkers, trade contractors, clients, and partners whose planning, collaboration, and craftsmanship delivered facilities that support Texas students, athletes, patients, and families.

“This award means a lot to our team because of the long days and sacrifices everyone made to deliver the quality the project and design teams expected,” said a Vaughn project manager. “Our projects include many intricate and unusual details that require close coordination across multiple trades, making this recognition especially meaningful.”
