City of San Marcos Celebrates Municipal Courthouse Grand Opening

The City of San Marcos recently opened its newly renovated Municipal Courthouse, for which Vaughn Construction served as general contractor. Formerly an empty warehouse, Vaughn transformed the space into a secure, modern courthouse that meets the city’s operational needs. The team raised platforms for the judge and staff, installed bullet-resistant walls, windows, and service counters, and delivered a full security package. Additional upgrades included new finishes, HVAC, restrooms, millwork, and updated electrical and data systems.

City leaders and project partners gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the main courtroom, where Mayor Jane Hughson welcomed guests and introduced the speakers. Presiding Municipal Court Judge Dallari Landry shared the story behind the courthouse relocation and praised the collaborative effort that brought the project to life. Assistant director of public works Pete Binion thanked all contributors, including Vaughn Construction, FGMA, and city project manager Darren Lubbock.

“This project was a proud moment for our team,” said a Vaughn project manager. “We delivered a high-quality courthouse on a tight timeline while also building a strong relationship with a new client. It is rewarding to know the new facility will better serve the San Marcos community.”
