Ceremonial Groundbreaking on the Children’s Medical Center Plano, New Patient Tower and Parking Garage

Children's Medical Center Plano broke ground on its New Patient Tower and Parking Garage project, for which Vaughn is the construction manager-at-risk. The milestone occurred on October 26, the 16th anniversary of the groundbreaking for the Plano campus. The groundbreaking event featured employees, patients, board members, and executive staff who celebrated this big step forward for the campus. The $267 million pediatric specialty hospital and 700-vehicle garage will meet the needs of the growing pediatric population in far North Texas and double the size of the Plano campus.

The pediatric population is growing rapidly in the north Texas area and Children’s Health has seen steady patient increases year-over-year. This new hospital, slated to complete in late 2026, will meet the community’s demands, with more beds and world-class critical and tertiary care. The new tower will house specialty care programs such as cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, gastroenterology, and neurology. The units will include pediatric intensive care beds, acute care beds, an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) room, and a milk lab.
