Three Vaughn Projects Win AGC APEX Awards

Vaughn won three Associated General Contractor of Houston (AGC Houston) Awards for Project Excellence (APEX). These awards recognize firms for their excellence in design and construction and their projects’ valuable contributions to the community.

2131_1162x768fHouston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital’s New Hospital and Medical Office Building project won a bronze award in the Healthcare: Over $10M category. The addition of the new campus in The Woodlands allows Houston Methodist to serve the rapid growth of the Montgomery County community where they live, with services similar to those available in the Texas Medical Center. Fifteen months after breaking ground, Vaughn turned over the medical office building, central utility plant, and parking areas. Vaughn’s early turnover of this phase allowed Houston Methodist to begin treating patients in the Medical Office Building a full year before the hospital was completed. Vaughn wrapped up the hospital just 26 months after breaking ground and one day earlier than scheduled, despite two flood events.

2118_TAMU-TVMDL8_1162x768Texas A&M University’s Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory won a gold award in the Laboratory/Veterinary category. The mission of this facility is to promote animal health and protect agricultural, companion animal, and public health in Texas – and beyond – through excellence in veterinary diagnostic services. This is one of very few facilities in the United States that has the ability to handle large livestock deliveries for diagnostic study. Vaughn constructed TVMDL to specifically provide this capability within the confines of a high containment laboratory.

2062_GRB_1162x768bThe Houston First Corporation’s Convention Center Improvements, Partnership Tower, and Parking Garage project won a bronze award in the Hospitality category. Vaughn’s renovation of the George R. Brown Convention Center and Avenida de Las Americas helped redefine the fabric of downtown Houston, creating a new identity for the convention center district and La Avenida as a downtown destination for Houstonians as well as visitors. Downtown Houston is receiving more businesses, conventions, and visitors than ever before.
