Sam Houston State University Unveils Lowman Student Center Addition

Sam Houston State University (SHSU) recently celebrated the grand opening of the 80,000 SF expansion to its Lowman Student Center (LSC) in Huntsville, Texas. Vaughn served as the construction manager-at-risk for this addition project, which includes dedicated student recreation space, a new eight-lane bowling alley, expandable party rooms, a catering kitchen, and five eating venues. The building also features other food service spaces with a seating area for 250 people, multiple meeting rooms, and a large divisible ballroom that can accommodate 900 people. During the grand opening event, LSC director Rob Webber said, “We’d also like to thank Vaughn Construction for their efforts. The Vaughn team has always been gracious and never made us feel like we were a bother. Instead, they encouraged us and supported us along the way and treated the facility as if it was their own.” Learn more about the addition.

In March 2019, Vaughn began construction of phase two, which includes renovating the existing LSC and adding 1,900 SF to the structure. EYP was the project architect. Learn more about the renovation.
