Texas A&M University Celebrates Groundbreaking on Linda & Dennis Clark ’68 Small Animal Teaching Hospital

Texas A&M University (TAMU) recently broke ground on the 134,000 SF Linda & Dennis Clark ’68 Small Animal Teaching Hospital, for which Vaughn serves as construction manager-at-risk. The new building will foster advancements in animal care and educate the next generation of veterinary medical doctors, serving as a valuable asset to the Brazos Valley community.

Glenn A. Hegar, Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and Chancellor Elect of the Texas A&M University System, stated, “Texas faces a significant shortage of veterinarians. Collectively, veterinarians across the state generate an estimated $1.7 billion in economic impact. [This new building will] shape not only the future economy but also the lives of young adults and communities statewide.”

The facility will house 15 specialty referral services, including oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, dentistry, nutrition, and interventional radiology. Additional faculty, staff, and student wellness spaces, client comfort rooms, a pharmacy, space for diagnostic imaging, and training areas will also be located within the new building.

“I recently stepped into a superintendent role, and I am excited for the challenge ahead,” said a Vaughn superintendent. “More than that, I am proud to be part of a project that will leave a lasting impact on the community. As a parent, I hope my child attends Texas A&M University one day, and I will be proud knowing I helped build a part of the campus.”

“This is my second project with TAMU, and it presents a valuable opportunity for me to develop additional skills,” said a Vaughn project engineer. “It also creates more opportunities for Vaughn interns who attend TAMU, offering them meaningful, hands-on experience.”

The project is slated for substantial completion in 2027, and we look forward to sharing more as the project progresses.
