Project Overview

Adjacent to the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Medical Education Building, also built by Vaughn, this new high-tech interdisciplinary nursing school features classrooms, group study rooms, specialized nursing simulation labs, specialized training equipment, faculty offices, and support space. The facility is home a Baby Café, a non-clinical, drop-in center open to the public that is dedicated to supporting breastfeeding mothers. It is one of only two such facilities in the nation.

Unique Challenge

We encountered significant delays in the manufacturing of cast stone which had the potential to delay portions of the skin and subsequently the site work trades. Through cooperation with other trades and reconfiguring some portions of the flashing, the project team laid out the cast stone and proceeded with the remainder of the masonry work and plaster, reducing the impact on the project schedule.
