Our Internship Areas

Building Information Modeling

Building information modeling (BIM) interns learn how we use our in-house BIM capabilities to improve project delivery, including spatial coordination of underground utilities and overhead and in-wall coordination of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems. Interns will be introduced to 3D modeling programs, laser scanning, 360 degree cameras, and other technologies utilized in virtual design and construction. Qualified applicant must be an active college student pursuing a four-year construction/engineering related degree.

Estimating / Preconstruction

Our estimating interns work beside seasoned estimating and preconstruction specialists to learn how we bid new work and to learn our preconstruction process for current projects. They assist our team with preparing detailed cost estimates and conceptual estimates, verifying material quantities, and exploring cost reduction ideas. Estimating interns are fully immersed in a team environment to experience Vaughn Construction’s core values and gain valuable hands on knowledge to prepare them for a career as a construction professional.

Field Management

Field management interns work as part of a project team to learn how to monitor construction site activities, perform daily inspections to ensure construction progresses as scheduled and contract specifications are adhered to, and schedule deliveries with contractors. Qualified applicant must be an active college student pursuing a four-year degree in construction, engineering or related field.

Project Management

Project management interns will work as part of a project team to learn how to monitor construction site activities daily, interact with trade contractors and vendors, facilitate construction progress, ensure adherence to specifications and document work such as submittal approvals, requests for information (RFI) and change orders. Qualified applicant must be an active college student pursuing a four-year degree in construction, engineering or related field.

Quality Control

Quality control interns will work with our in-house quality control managers to learn how to implement quality control and commissioning plans, inspect systems for quality and craftsmanship, investigate and resolve issues on projects, perform pre-functional/functional testing of systems, and execute equipment start-ups, point-to-point control systems verifications, and testing and balancing. Qualified applicant must be an active college student pursuing a building automation, HVAC, electrical technology or similar degree.

Safety

Safety interns will work with our in-house safety professionals to learn how to implement our project-specific safety programs, including documenting monthly safety reports, participating in orientations and training for project-specific safety plans, analyzing job hazards, performing job site inspections, and assisting in the resolution of safety violations. Qualified applicant must be an active college student pursuing a construction, engineering or related degree.
