Concrete Estimator




Our ESTIMATORs:
  • Review construction documents and understand scope of work to bid;
  • review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy;
  • execute take-offs of construction documents and input into computer spreadsheet;
  • obtain pricing for materials and bids from subcontractors;
  • prepare cost analysis by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items;
  • where predetermined standard(s) are not available, make an estimate;
  • track actual costs on ongoing jobs;
  • maintain and foster good subcontractor relationships with Company’s core values in mind;
  • assist in writing and “buying out” contracts and is involved in the approval process;
  • track trends in the market pricing and escalation;
  • research cost of new items of work or new material;
  • review and evaluate Requests for Estimates;
  • prepare weekly bid calendar and ensure timely completion of estimates;
  • develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.;
  • work with Project Management to development job/plan; and
  • provide training to junior-level employees.

EDUCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Four year degree in Construction Science or related field, 3-5 years of construction experience as a Project Engineer/Manager. Prefer 10+ years experience estimating concrete for large commercial/institutional projects.
