Texas Facilities Commission Breaks Ground on New Office Building and Parking Garage

by Vaughn Construction | Jul 17, 2018

Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) recently broke ground on the North Austin Complex Phase One project, a massive, ground-up endeavor with a construction value of $155 million. Vaughn is serving as the construction manager-at-risk on this complex, which includes a nine-story office building, a 1,850-space parking garage, and a central plant. The project represents the first phase of a master plan to consolidate multiple tenants from different agencies into one location.

At the groundbreaking event, John Raff, TFC interim executive director, said, “Consolidating the leases into state-owned facilities is projected to realize the state a full return on its investment in a little under 40 years.” In his remarks, Mr. Raff thanked Vaughn’s president, Mike Vaughn, and senior project manager, Jose Villarreal, for their presence and expressed his gratitude to the rest of the Vaughn team.

The substantial completion date for the project is December 2020. For more information about the project, please visit
