Officials from The Woodlands Development Company, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Vaughn Construction gathered on February 28 to celebrate the topping out milestone for the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center Regional Care Center. As attendees gazed into the sky, Vaughn placed the symbolic steel beam and a tree for good luck atop the facility.
Paul Lane, regional president for Howard Hughes Corporation, gave a special thank you to Dr. Peter WT Pisters, president of University of Texas MD Anderson, EYP and their team of architects, engineers and consultants, Vaughn and all the trade contractor laborers and craftsman who are responsible for building this facility.
Vaughn serves as the construction manager-at-risk on this new $74 million, 208,000 GSF facility. The facility is three stories, with dedicated spaces for radiation therapy, a women’s center, pharmacy, lab, imaging, a penthouse, and more. Construction started in June 2017 and will reach substantial completion in May 2019.
